NKT Cables has signed a deal to supply export cable for Gemini offshore wind farm.

The production will start this month, as a result of the Preparatory Works Agreement between Typhoon Offshore B.V., offshore wind farm developer, and NKT Cables.

Under the agreement, NKT Cables will produce around 200 kilometres of 220 kV high voltage submarine cables, which will be delivered in early 2015.

”We are pleased to be able to contribute to project Gemini with our technology, expertise and state of the art facilities in Cologne and Rotterdam,“ says Marc van’t Noordende, CEO of NKT Cables.

The 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm project is located 55 kilometers north of the Island of Schiermonnikoog in the Dutch North Sea.

After completion, the wind farm will produce electricity for over 785,000 households.
