The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, will hold a Public Hearing on Feb. 19 (Shawnee High School Library, 3365 N Illinois Route 3, Wolf Lake, Ill.) for two draft Environmental Assessments for river training structure construction activities on the Mississippi River.
The Environmental Assessments are for the Grand Tower Phase 5 Project and the Dogtooth Bend Phase 5 Project, part of the St. Louis District’s Regulating Works program. The hearing provides an opportunity for public review and comment on the proposed projects.
Information on the projects, including supporting documents and maps, will be available from 6-7 p.m. prior to the public hearing. Subject matter experts will also be available to discuss the projects.
The Grand Tower Phase 5 Regulating Works project is located in the Middle Mississippi River between River Miles 67.0 and 74.0 in Cape Girardeau County, Mo., and Union County, Ill., near the city of Cape Girardeau.
The Dogtooth Bend Phase 5 Regulating Works project is located in the Middle Mississippi River between river miles 20.0 and 40.0 in Scott and Mississippi Counties, Mo., and Alexander County, Ill., roughly 3.5 miles downstream of Commerce, Mo.
Both projects are designed to address repetitive channel maintenance dredging in the project area.
