The Croon Elektrotechniek and Bakker Sliedrecht joint venture will deliver the complete electrical installations, propulsion and automation for three new pipe laying vessels, to be built for Subsea 7.
The order comes from Dutch company IHC Merwede, which will build the vessels at its yard in Krimpen aan de IJseel and Kinderdijk. The new vessels are identical to the IHC Merwede type 30 design of the Seven Waves vessel, which is being completed at the moment.
It has a length of 146 metres, a beam of 30 metres and with a class DP2 system (Dynamic Positioning) these ships are built to transport, lay and install flexible pipes and systems up to a depth of 3000 metres.
Croon and Bakker Sliedrecht, known as Combinatie Croon Bakker , are responsible for energy generation, distribution, electric drives, automation including DP2, cabling including the High Voltage installation (total 22 MW) and more.
The completion period is scheduled between the third quarter of 2015 and the third quarter of 2016.
