DONG Energy: “ The previous method using pen and paper, while also documenting using a digital camera, was rather time consuming as the information subsequently had to be manually typed in.”

A few weeks ago, technology giant Apple released a TV commercial for its iPad Air , which features Danish Anholt offshore wind farm as one of the places where it is being used.

DONG Energy’s Anholt offshore wind farm, shown in the commercial, comprises 111 Siemens 3.6MW turbines and is maintained by technicians from the two companies.

Apple announced last year that Siemens’ technicians started using iPad to facilitate their work, both onshore and offshore.

iPad saves a lot of valuable time

When carrying out the inspection work of foundations at Anholt offshore wind farm, the operations and maintenance (O&M) team has a list of 150 items that need to be inspected. Thus, clicking on an iPad is a much better option than writing things down on paper. “This is a really intelligent way to do inspections,” DONG Energy says.
