CSSC Chengxi shipyard Co., Ltd. and Shandong Landbridge Group have entered into a contract for the construction of five 64,000 DWT bulk carriers.
The vessels, designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), belong to the energy-efficient, eco-friendly Dolphin 64 series.
Dolphin 64 ships feature perfectly-optimized hull lines, combined with the electrical fuel injection and low speed main engine. Also, the vessels of the series have a highly efficient propeller with five ultra-long blades and hub vortex absorbed fins.
According to the contract, the shipbuilder will complete all five vessels by the end of 2016.
The first 64,000 DWT bulk carrier was built and delivered by Chengxi shipyard back in 2013.
