Reflex Marine’s brand new personnel transfer device, the FROG-XT4, was positively received at a recent launch event in Stavanger, Norway. The new four-person device was unveiled at Reflex Marine’s regional partner EnerMech’s fifth birthday party.
The development of the FROG-XT range has been a direct response to customer demands and the product has been developed with over 20 years of experience, over 800 transfer devices operating globally, and with an estimated 1 million safe transfers performed using our capsules every year.
The FROG-XT4 provides greater comfort and safety to passengers, wider operating parameters and higher capacity transfers than its predecessor. It has a smaller footprint and more compact design making it easy to store and more cost effective to ship.
The lifting points are now at eye level and therefore easier to access and inspect, making it simple to ensure the safety of the unit before each transfer. The new stretcher mounting system makes it capable of being deployed quickly in medical evacuation situations (MedEvac), a crucial feature in emergency scenarios.
Attendees at the event included a range of major industry operators as well as EnerMech’s key partners, Liebherr Thern and Nolt. The launch into the Norwegian market was particularly timely with the new NORSOK R-002 standard, which includes a section specific to personnel transfer carriers. This is the most detailed guidance on carrier design published in the Norwegian sector to date and highlights of the September 2013 revision include:
• Carriers should be able to operate up to at least 3 metres significant wave height • Not less than two people to be transferred in the carrier • Passengers should be seated • Carriers should float in an upright position
Reflex Marine’s client support manager Robin Proctor delivered a presentation with a focus on marine transfer risk awareness and the impacts of the new NORSOK R-002 standard. He outlined how the FROG-XT4 meets the NORSK requirements and provides clients with a range of new and improved safety features as well as an enhanced ownership experience.
He said: “Guests at the event really appreciated all the design improvements we have made to the FROG-XT4 as a result of customer feedback we have received. They were also impressed with the overall quality of the product. We are already receiving a lot of interest and enquiries from this region.”
Reflex Marine is looking to launch a higher capacity version of the product, the FROG-XT10, to the market later in the year.
