Between 28 and 31 January 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway carried out an audit of barrier management, technical safety and electrical systems at Troll C platform in the North Sea.
The objective of the audit was to verify whether Statoil’s management and monitoring of barriers at Troll C was in accordance with the company’s and statutory requirements, so as to reduce the likelihood of failures.
Non-conformities were identified in connection with:
– Pressure surges in the fire water system,
– Design accident loads for fires,
– Emergency shutdown and process safety systems,
– Labelling of battery banks.
In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with response time for fire water, risk reduction, monitoring and control and temporary equipment.
