German ship-owner Conti Reederei has placed an order for four 63,800dwt bulkers with options for eight more with Jiangsu Hantong Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry, SinoShip news portal reports.
The vessels from the firm order are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2015.
The price of the contract was not disclosed.
The newbuildings will feature eco-friendly Dolphin 64 design, developed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design Institute (Sdari) in collaboration with Wärtsilä and Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
Dolphin 64 is a Supermax vessel with energy-efficient and economic characteristics.
Conti Reederei already ordered last year eight vessels with the same shipyard that will be delivered in the first half of 2015.
