Preparations for the loading of Siemens’ HelWin beta jacket are in full swing at Heerema Fabrication Group’s Vlissingen yard, the company informed via social media.

The 3,500-ton jacket will be moved on site to the quayside for the loading on a barge.

In June 2012, Siemens awarded Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) a contract that comprises the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) of the HelWin beta converter platform, which includes topsides, jacket and bridge.

In October 2012, Heerema Zwijndrecht started the construction of the topsides, and the jacket was built at Heerema’s Vlissingen yard.

HFG’s engineering firm, HFG Engineering, is responsible for the jacket design and engineering. The topsides and jacket installation will be carried out by HFG’s sister division Heerema Marine Contractors.

The converter platform is one of the main components of the TenneT DC offshore grid connection ‘HelWin2′.
