The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Weeks Marine are preparing for the Rockaway Beach replenishment project.

Approximately 3,000,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed onto the Rockaway beaches. This will create a 14 ft high dune and a 200 ft wide recreational beach.

This project will work to prevent erosion caused by future storms.

The submerged pipeline which was recently placed near B116 will transport dredged sand from an offshore borrow area, using the dredger R.S. Weeks.
