Monaco-based Celsius Shipping has increased its current orderbook for 24,600 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers to ten firm vessels.
Celsius and Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry recently signed a contract for the construction of seven more 24,600 dwt chemical tankers with options for additional four.
However, the company didn’t want to comment, other than to say that the order for the chemical tankers at Nantong Mingde now stands at 10 firm vessels.
According to Nantong Mingde, delivery of the first three vessels is slated for the first half of 2016 with the rest of the newbuildings to follow in 2017.
Main dimensions of the vessels are as follows: total length 174.3m; moulded breadth 26.8m; moulded depth 9.40m; scantling draft 9.20m; design speed 14 knots.
