Shanghai DongFang International Investment Company and shipbuilder China Shipping Industry (Jiangsu) have entered into an agreement for the construction of four 64,000 dwt bulk carriers.
Under the deal, construction of the vessels is to start this month, with the delivery slated for May 2015.
The newbuildings will be chartered out to China Shipping Group’s bulk shipping unit.
According to one of the officials of China Shipping’s bulk division, these new bulkers will greatly improve the efficiency of the company’s fleet.
