Dutch Damen Shipyards has today through social media shared photos of a seismic vessel being repaired in one of its yards.
The Polarcus Naila vessel, owned by the UAE-based seismic specialist Polarcus, is undergoing repairs and upgrades in the Shipdock shipyard, which Damen bought in February last year.
The 3D seismic vessel arrived at Shipdock Amsterdam in February this year, where its propulsion systems are now being upgraded, and the vessel is also undergoing modification works, so it can be classified as a Special Purpose Ship.
Furthermore, the scope of work includes Ballast Water Treatment installation, installation of a new workboat and davits, relocation of the MOB and the 5-year special survey.
Upon completion of the works in the shipyard, the Polarcus Naila is expected to begin a charter contract with Norwegian seismic survey company, TGS. The charter is expected to last six months.

Polarcus Naila is a 12-streamer 3D/4D Seismic Vessel. Delivered in 2010, she is built to the Ulstein SX124 design and incorporates the Ulstein X-Bow® hull. The Naila combines the latest developments in maritime systems with the most advanced seismic technology commercially available. The vessel is also amongst the most environmentally sound seismic vessels in the market, with diesel-electric propulsion, high specification catalytic convertors, double hull, and an advanced bilge water cleaning system. The vessel complies with the stringent DNV Clean Design notation.
