After the recent sail away from Heerema Vlissingen, Siemens’ HelWin beta jacket arrived at its location in the German North Sea where the installation started by the semi-submersible construction vessel ‘Thialf’.

Heerema Fabrication Group informed that the installation of the 4,500 t HelWin beta jacket and the pile driving have started.

The Vlissingen yard built the jacket, which measures 62 x 42.5 x 42 m, in just 6 months.

The jacket is part of the HelWin beta HVDC platform, which is one of the main components of the TenneT DC offshore grid connection ‘HelWin2’.

The connection with a capacity of 690 MW will connect a large wind farm cluster in the German sector of the North Sea.
