Since the search for the missing flight MH370 didn’t provide any clue until now, the Authorities are considering widening the search area in the Indian Ocean.
The Bluefin-21 AUV has now completed approximately 95 per cent of the focused underwater search area.
The AUV, which is currently completing mission 13, didn’t find any contacts of interest.
The search area until now was focused on a circle of 10km radius around the second Towed Pinger Locator detection which occurred on 08 April.
The Authorities are planning to release a preliminary report regarding the disappearance of the plane, said Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak in an interview with CNN.
“I have directed an internal investigation team of experts to look at the report, and there is a likelihood that next week we could release the report,” CNN quoted the Minister as saying.
According to CBC News, the Authorities are considering the deployment of sonar equipment that can explore even deeper that the Bluefin-21.
In today’s search 8 military aircraft and 10 ships will examine the area of approximately 49,240 square kilometers.
