Statoil Petroleum AS has received consent to use a new compressor and other modified production equipment at Kristin.

Statoil is the operator on the Kristin field which is located at Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea. Gas from the field is piped to Åsgard Transport and then onwards to Kårstø in Rogaland, while condensate is transferred to Åsgard C for storage and shipment. Production at Heidrun began in autumn 2005.

The field’s reservoir pressure has fallen faster than expected and, in order to maintain production, Statoil has implemented a project to reduce inlet pressure in the process facility.

The project entails the installation of new equipment, including a new compressor module, in addition to replacing and upgrading existing equipment and systems.

Statoil plans to deploy this new and modified equipment in June 2014. The PSA has granted Statoil consent for this.
