Pulse Structural Monitoring (Pulse) has completed a subsea integrity monitoring project for a Dong Energy offshore wind farm.

Pulse supplied a system to measure the motion of a number of unsupported sections of subsea cable at the Gunfleet Sands wind farm in the UK sector of the Southern North Sea. The investigation was to determine the impact of tidal activity on the fatigue life of the cable.

The project began in November 2013 and included project management, sensor delivery, offshore support and post processing data analysis. Pulse’s solution included four Pulse INTEGRIpod TM motion data loggers which provided a detailed record of the cable’s motions throughout the study period. This data was used to confirm the acceptable fatigue performance of the cable. HBC divers were contracted to install the subsea data loggers.
