Rapidly growing Egypt based company Deeptech Oil Services have confirmed an order with SMD for a Quasar MkII 150hp 3000m rated work class remotely operated vehicle.

The high specification system includes Tophat tether management system, A-Frame, umbilical winch and fully integrated control cabin. The system is due for delivery in the second quarter of this year.

The Quasar work class ROV is the mid-sized vehicle in SMD’s work class ROV range offering class leading in-water performance, tooling and instrument interface. Utilising the latest multi-platform Curvetech™ components, the Quasar is an all-round performer capable of survey, construction and drill support operations.

“SMD is delighted to have been awarded this order from Deeptech,” said Mark Collins , SMD’s Deputy Managing Director. “The new vehicle will complement Deeptech’s Quantum ROV which has received great feedback since delivery in 2010, particularly with regard to the vehicle’s reliability and performance.”

Commenting on the contract award, Wael Bakr , CEO for Deeptech said: “We are very much looking forward to enhanced capabilities that the Quasar ROV will provide on delivery later this year. The vehicle will further enable us to serve the market with efficient and reliable high performance operations.”
