American company General Electric (GE) said it was not in negotiations with Japanese Toshiba over the Alstom’s power grid business, reported Reuters.

According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Toshiba is set to offer an estimated several hundred billions of yen for Alstom’s grid segment if GE acquires it.

GE denied these claims, saying that they were not in any discussions, nor that they were planning to sell the unit.

GE offered to buy Alstom’s Thermal, Renewables (“Power”) and Grid businesses for $16.9 billion last week.
