Green Marine Solutions (GMS) has issued a high-tech maintenance and safe guano removal in a single efficient package. Long-term and, in some cases, permanent solutions are available.

As part of an integrated efficiency-improvement package designed to take the strain out of operational maintenance, GMS working teams can remove both guano from wind turbine working areas and marine growth from boat landings while also fitting bird deterrents.

The benefits can be substantial.

Bird droppings can have serious negative impact on human health and safety. They can cause corrosion on infrastructure and equipment, jeopardize helicopter operations, and present significant risks in boat landing areas and subsea structures.

GMS provides turnkey guano and marine growth removal management solutions. The project package included personnel, documentation, equipment and vessels, plus essential experience. This included containing the immediate health hazards of guano with full PPE respiratory equipment. In addition, GMS uses specific proprietary cleaners and anti-bacterial agents to wash down affected areas.

The company has also optimized the use of vessels with pressure wash equipment to tidal and weather windows. There is no down-time. Other maintenance tasks are carried out when conditions are adverse.

Because guano removal is temporary by its nature, GMS also fits bird deterrent devices to key area such as crane davits.

Surveys before and after work are part of project planning and management. Occupational health & safety for GMS operatives, other offshore personnel and any third-parties is a paramount priority.
