SgurrEnergy will be joined by expert guest speakers from the worlds of industry and academia for an in-depth seminar looking at how and why measurement holds the key to the future of the offshore wind sector.

The seminar, titled The vital role of measurements in securing long term viability for the offshore wind sector , will be held on Tuesday, 10th June at the Glasgow Science Centre.

Developing wind farms offshore is notoriously expensive but growth in the sector has huge potential to help us reach the EU 2020 renewable energy goafs and secure the future supply of energy. Due to the high cost of development, it is essential that we get things right from the beginning, ensuring that offshore wind measurement is accurate, affordable, and leads to optimal performance through development of fit for purpose offshore wind technology.

Recent years have seen some ground-breaking advancement in measurement and analysis of how wind behaves offshore and our seminar aims to determine how these can inform the future of the offshore wind industry, improving wind farm developments and ultimately increasing performance of both proposed and operational wind farms to reduce the levelized cost of energy.
