According to the Apollo Beach Waterway Improvement Group (ABWIG), the Apollo Beach restoration plan is moving forward and dredging will commence in the summer.

Delays were caused by additional agency requirements for sampling, surveys and engineering drawings, but ABWIG and the Hillsborough County are proceeding to obtain permit modifications and ABWIG will soon put the dredging project out for bid.

The Park will be closed for installation of the breakwaters and continue to be closed until the beach is restored with the sand dredged from the channels.

Dredging will begin on the North Channel, then continue on the Main and South Channels, ending with the Manatee Season.
