Together with industry partner FORCE Technology, LORC is now setting up a centre to test components and substructures for the offshore wind industry.

In this initial phase, LORC Component & Substructure Testing will include a strong floor, where such components as foundations for offshore turbines can be tested mechanically. Another of the centre’s test facilities is a climatic chamber where components and systems can be tested under extreme climatic and environmental conditions.

Additionally, the ambition is to build an outdoor test site for full scale testing of offshore wind turbine foundations.

LORC Component & Substructure Testing will be set up during 2014 and be completed by mid-2015.
