The deepening and widening of the Lake Worth Inlet, a part of the recently approved bill, is concerning officials of the Port of Palm Beach.
Along with the officials, environmental advocates are also concerned over the impact of dredging on sea grass and reefs as well as endangered manatees, the Sun Sentinel news site reports.
The widening of the inlet from 400 to 460 feet, and the deepening from 33 to 41 feet would cost approximately $89 million.
According to the source, the whole Lake Worth project could go to Court in an effort to try to stop the deepening.
