The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking comments on the draft Breckenridge, Minn., berm construction and channel clean-out Environmental Assessment.
The Corps, in partnership with the city of Breckenridge, is proposing to modify the city’s existing flood risk reduction project to ensure it functions as designed. The Corps is proposing to dredge approximately 7,000 cubic yards of sediment from the diversion channel inlet and construct a 400-foot berm to minimize future sediment deposits.
A public review and comment period on the draft environmental assessment began yesterday and will end July 07. Questions and comments concerning project should be directed to Derek Ingvalson, Corps biologist.
The nearly 650 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, employees working at more than 40 sites in five upper-Midwest states serve the American public in the areas of environmental enhancement, navigation, flood damage reduction, water and wetlands regulation, recreation sites and disaster response. Through the Corps’ Fiscal Year 2011 $175 million budget, nearly 2,800 non-Corps jobs were added to the regional economy as well as $271 million to the national economy.
