On Tuesday May 20th, Verbrugge Terminals in the Port of Vlissingen successfully completed the first load-in for the Dutch offshore wind farm ‘Eneco Luchterduinen’.
The monopiles are constructed by SIF Group and Smulders Group and are transported to Vlissingen for intermediate storage. In July 2014 the first monopiles will be shipped out and installed by EPC contractor Van Oord with its new build heavy lift Jack-up vessel Aeolus.
The Eneco Luchterduinen offshore wind farm comprises forty three wind turbines with a combined output of 129 MW, sufficient to power 150.000 households. The offshore wind park will be installed 23 km from the Dutch coast at Noordwijk and is scheduled to be operational in 2015.
Verbrugge offers the proper infrastructural conditions and handling experience required for this project. With its ample capacity of over 200 hectares and over 3.000m of heavy duty quay side, Verbrugge expects to continue to perform an important role as assembly location and marshalling harbour for the offshore (wind) industry in the years to come.
