Oregon-based Northern Construction Service has secured a contract to reconstruct half of Aurora Harbor, Juneau Empire reports.
The Assembly and the Docks and Harbors board made this decision for the $9.6 million project.
The scope of work includes securing new A, B, C and D floats, rebuilding approach docks at A and C ramps, improving electrical services to support modern electricity demands, a better water distribution system and a new sewage pump-out system.
The Company will dredge parts of the harbor to extend its capability of accommodating bigger ships.
The project will start in October, and it is planned to be completed by the end of May 2015.
