The planned start-up of the operation is 1 July 2014.

Water depth at the site is approx. 120 metres.

Alvheim Alvheim is an oil and gas field in the central part of the North Sea, west of Heimdal and close to the boundary with the UK shelf. The field has been developed using a production ship, Alvheim FPSO, and subsea wells, and it came on stream in 2008. The oil is exported by tanker, while processed rich gas is exported by pipeline to the SAGE system on the UK shelf.

Volund The Volund field lies around eight kilometres south of Alvheim. This is an oil field which has been developed using three subsea wells which are tied back to the Alvheim FPSO production ship. Volund came on stream in 2009.

Vilje Vilje is an oil field in the central North Sea just north of the Heimdal field. The field has been developed using two subsea wells which are tied back to the Alvheim FPSO production ship.

Bøyla The Bøyla oil discovery is located around 28 kilometres south of the Alvheim field, with one subsea facility tied back to Alvheim FPSO.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent to perform manned subsea operations in accordance with Marathon Oil Norge AS’s application.
