ConocoPhillips Australia, the operator of the Darwin LNG export facility, said that it will replace the carbon dioxide (CO2) absorber to extend the life of the 3.7 mtpa LNG facility.

Altus Logistics has been contracted to move the new piece of equipment on Sunday 15th June, which will temporarily disrupt the flow of traffic in Yarrawonga and Coolalinga. The 62 kilometre journey will be on public roads for approximately six hours, travelling at an average of 25 kilometres per hour, Conoco said. A traffic management plan has been approved by the NT Department of Infrastructure.

The carbon dioxide absorber plays an important role in the LNG production process by removing carbon dioxide from the incoming natural gas before it is super cooled and liquefied.

It will be connected during the scheduled maintenance shutdown of the LNG facility in September.
