Flooding issues have been tackled at four out of five sites in Tendring which were put up for urgent attention earlier this year.

Due to a long sustained period of wet weather Essex County Council (ECC) came up with an extra £1million of emergency funding for hotspots across the county.

Tendring District Council (TDC) produced its list to be addressed – and so far work has been carried out at all but one of them.

At the fifth the landowner refused access and further talks are taking place with ECC’s Flood Management Team in a bid to resolve the situation.

Mick Page, Leader of TDC , said it had been a successful exercise overall and improvements had been made.

“This was a totally new initiative but one which has been very welcome, especially in some of our more rural areas,” he said.

“The additional resources put into this program should make a considerable difference and as well as the work undertaken a number of longer term capital schemes have been identified for the future.”

Cllr Page added that it was only disappointing that ECC was not allowed access to the area in Hall Road, Great Bromley and he hoped the discussions with the landowner would prove fruitful.
