On the 18th and 19th June, 2014, the IADC/CEDA “Environmental Aspects of Dredging” Course was hosted by HR Wallingford at their headquarters in Howbery Park, Wallingford, UK.

With a total of 27 delegates attending from France, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Qatar, Ireland and Colombia, the presentations and workshops forming the course were the scene of much lively debate.

Course leaders, Nick Bray from HR Wallingford and Frans Uelman from Boskalis , said that they “ were hugely impressed by the attitude and enthusiasm shown by the workshop groups in fulfilling and presenting their various tasks, as well as producing intelligent and searching questions during the lectures.”

The good “chemistry” between lecturers and speakers were further emphasized by Noemi von Meijenfeldt (Witteveen+Bos), one of the participants from the Netherlands, who said: “I really enjoyed the course and was very impressed by the speakers. The fact that they illustrated so much of what they told with real life examples from the field made it very interesting. I further enjoyed the informal atmosphere that made stimulated people to interact with one and other .”

The attendees, who represented a good mix of contractors, consultants, specialist scientists, clients and regulators, took good opportunity to continue the discussion during the coffee breaks and the mid-course dinner.
