International energy consultancy Xodus Group, will deliver a £2 million FEED study for BG’s Dolphin field, offshore Trinidad.
The contract, which launched in February and will be completed later this summer, involves a produced water systems upgrade.
Xodus has experience of delivering projects in Trinidad and Tobago, and recently signed a global Master Service Agreement with BG, separate to the Dolphin FEED study, to further support the organisation through its full capability of services.
The company will analyse the technologies needed to address the challenges the field is facing in dealing with increased volumes of produced water. This is expected to increase from 100 barrels of produced water per day to 12,000 per day within the next few years. The team will also be involved in the procurement of the recommended systems.
The project is being led by teams in Aberdeen and Glasgow with expert support from Steven Tulloch in Orkney, a produced water treatment specialist who joined Xodus last year as Principal Process Consultant in the environmental team, and environmental input from London and Houston.
Neil Smith , Global Lead for Process and Facilities based in Aberdeen, said: “There are two critical elements, firstly getting the right technology that can deal effectively with the produced water challenge – including meeting stringent discharge standards – and secondly, designing the platform modifications to accommodate the new equipment. To this end, we have recently had a small multi-disciplinary team on the Dolphin A platform to carry out survey work.”
