The deadline for submitting comments for the Swansea Tidal Lagoon project has passed, yet some councillors feel they did not have enough time to review the plan, writes South Wales Evening Post.
Referring to the project report, councillor Paulette Smith said: “Fifty-two councillors had them on Friday, but 20 didn’t have them until Monday or Tuesday.”
“I am for tidal power, but I just want to make sure what we have done is the absolute right thing, as far as the oyster beds, fish and sewerage,” Smith added.
Some of the concerns raised by the councillors were about ecological impact and funding of the project.
Five UK planning inspectors will have the final say about the GBP 850 million project that will stretch around 10 kilometers in a U-shaped seawall.
With a nominal rated capacity of 320MW averaging 14 hours of generation every day, it will produce clean power for 155,000 homes.
