A man was transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital from the Ormonde offshore wind farm site last night, after he suffered a medical condition.

Following media reports that he was hospitalized due to a head injury, Offshore WIND contacted GeoSea, a subsidiary of DEME, as the man is a worker on the company’s jack-up vessel Neptune , which is deployed at the Ormonde wind farm, off Walney Island.

“In fact, the worker suffered a medical condition on the Neptune. There was no accident. Following strict safety procedures he was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital, ” Ann Wittemans, Communication Manager at DEME , told Offshore WIND .

Ms Wittemans confirmed that the worker’s physical condition is now stable.

Ormonde offshore wind farm has been operational since 2012. The wind farm features 30 REpower 5M wind turbines with a maximum installed capacity of 150MW. As the project moved into the operational phase a number of long-term jobs were created at the control, operations and maintenance base, which is located within Barrow port.
