Award winning Subsea Controls Company, Advantec Aberdeen Ltd has delivered Bespoke Intervention Work Over Control System (IWOCS) to Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd for its Golden Eagle Area Development project.

The design, manufacture and delivery of the IWOCS, along with a separate five year services contract amounts to a significant agreement for Advantec Aberdeen Ltd.

Advantec Aberdeen Ltd Managing Director, Steve King, said: “The award of the Golden Eagle contract highlights the developments and quick growth Advantec Aberdeen Ltd has made since its launch in April 2012. We are committed to designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art IWOCS together with a strong focus on customer support and needs to become market leaders in the field.”

“The service contract that goes hand in hand with the manufacturing contract also shows the capabilities that we have to meet the service requirements for Nexen. These contracts will allow Advantec Aberdeen Ltd to create much valued and skilled jobs for the local area and oil industry.”

The IWOCS designed specifically for the Golden Eagle Area Development includes a containerised Hydraulic Power Unit and control station, a 20 core Reeler and umbilical, 3 core Reeler and umbilical, Fluid IBC Carriers and Umbilical Guide Frames. All designed and manufactured to the highest of industry standards including DNV and NORSOK.

The Golden Eagle Field, which is located 70km northeast of Aberdeen, is expected to produce estimated 140 million barrels of oil (gross) over the next 18 years. First oil production is forecast for late 2014 and the development is expected to have a peak production rate of up to 70,000 barrels of oil per day.

The Golden Eagle project represents a significant win for Advantec Aberdeen Ltd and enhances its reputation as market leader in the design and manufacture of both Direct and Electro Hydraulic IWOCS in the North Sea Sector.
