A crew consisting of 18 oil workers has been left stranded on a North Sea Ensco 102 rig when discovered that the helicopter, that was supposed to fly them home, is leaking fluid.
The problem with the Airbus EC225, that was supposed to take the workers home, was discovered when the rig workers lined up to board the helicopter. Once the helicopter was inspected, it was determined that the fluid is leaking both inside and outside the helicopter.
According to Evening Express Bristow Helicopters has confirmed that an Airbus EC225 had to stay on the rig due to ‘fluid leak’. Due to this delay, workers had to spend extra two days on the rig waiting for the other helicopter which caused the rig to be overcrowded.
Evening Express has reported that a spokeswoman for Bristow Helicopters said: “ We can confirm one of our Airbus EC225 helicopters had cause to shutdown on an offshore installation on Thursday at approximately 1pm following a suspected fluid leak.
“The aircraft underwent a full inspection and was subsequently declared serviceable on July 11.
“Flight safety is Bristow’s first priority and we will always investigate prior to further flight.”
