Guimaras Island in the Philippines experienced a blackout on Wednesday morning due to a damaged submarine cable.

A Coast Guard official stated that the cable is believed to be damaged by MV Ocean Prosperity’s anchor.

According to Inquirer, Coast Guard is conducting investigation to further acknowledge the cause of the damage.

Since the daily power requirement reaches 5 MW during peak hours, the power was partially restored through Trans-Asia.

Only limited areas are being supplied with the power during the blackout.
