Statoil has received consent for installation and temporary operation of a modular drilling rig (MDR) at the Heimdal facility.
Installation will begin in the third quarter of 2014 with commissioning scheduled for November.
Heimdal is a gas field lying under 120 metres of water in block 25/4 in the central North Sea. The field has been developed using an integrated production, drilling and accommodation facility with a steel jacket.
Heimdal currently comprises two main facilities, Heimdal Main Platform (HMP) and Heimdal Riser Platform (HRP), and operates as a gas node in the North Sea under the designation Heimdal Gas Centre (HGS).
