Mainstream Renewable Power has recently started its detailed geotechnical and geophysical survey of the proposed Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm site.

The survey work has started on August 4th 2014 and will continue until approximately September 30th 2014. The planned wind farm site is located in the outer Forth Estuary approximately 15km to the east of Fife Ness and 30km to the north of Torness.

Up to three different specialist geotechnical vessels will collect soil and rock samples from each of the 75 potential turbine locations. A separate vessel will also undertake geophysical magnetometer and multi-beam surveys.

This represents Mainstream’s continuing commitment to the construction of this large infrastructure project and marks a significant stage in the projects as it enters the final design phase in preparation for a financial investment decision.
