VSMC, a strategic joint venture of VolkerWessels and Boskalis, has been awarded a € 90 million contract by Sandbank Offshore Windfarm GmbH (a joint venture of energy companies Vattenfall and Stadtwerke München).

The scope of work for VSMC includes cable supply, CPS, installation, post lay burial and termination & testing of 76 infield cables. Project execution is scheduled to start in August 2015 and will be completed by the summer of 2016.

The Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm is situated in the German Bight, next to the DanTysk Offshore Windfarm. The 72 wind turbines will generate a total capacity of 288MW.

CEO Arno van Poppel said: “After the successful infield cable installation and termination for DanTysk Offshore Wind Farm, we are eager to add another great job to our track record for Vattenfall.”
