Arkhangelsk Branch of Rosmorport resumed the Sabetta Port dredging work in early August, as soon as the summer navigation period commenced.
The dredging vessels arrived within the planed period on August 1, 2014, while the marine survey and full package of environmental engineering survey had been completed by that time so that the vessels could immediately embark on dredging operations at the marine and approach canals as well as in the port’s water area.
At the moment, five trailing suction hopper dredgers are working on the construction of the seaway canal while one cutter suction dredger with three hopper barges work at the approach canal, reports FSUE Rosmorport.
Over the past 2-year period, the volume of dredging operations at the port’s approach canal and its berths totaled 10.9 mln cbm. According to the plan for 2014, the rates of the construction of subsea hydraulic engineering facilities is to double with dredging works resulting in excavation of 21.5 mln cbm of material.
