Peterhead Port Authority is looking for a best contractor that will perform harbor deepening, quay wall strengthening and other associated works and improvements, estimated to be worth around $34 million.

The project will include deepening of the existing inner harbors consisting of rock (granite) dredging and where necessary, associated drilling and blasting pre-treatment. Quay wall strengthening will involve the installation of secant piles and reinforced concrete as well as re-facing of existing masonry walls.

The project also includes demolition of a steel cantilever bridge structure and associated abutment. Extension and re-alignment of 2 jetty structures. Formation of land reclamation using dredged material recovered from the inner harbor works.

Duration of the project is estimated to be about 18 months. Deadline for submitting bids is September 19th 2014.

Peterhead is one of the UK’s most versatile ports, providing exceptional all-weather, congestion-free deepwater berthing facilities at depths of up to 14 meters and serving a broad range of industries including oil and gas, renewables, fishing and leisure.
