The 3rd Marine & Coastal Engineering Summit will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 14–17 September, 2014.
The summit will look to highlight master planning marine structures and optimizing cost and time in project delivery and many other issues.
This event will bring together government representatives, port authorities, oil and gas operators, consultants, contractors and port equipment and services suppliers to share experiences and discuss critical construction engineering challenges they are facing in their day-to-day basis.
Background
The Gulf Countries port development projects are running at exceptional levels as governments look towards the future infrastructure needs of this rapidly growing region. It has been estimated that the Gulf Countries are allocating $36 billion to further develop their port infrastructure to handle bigger capacity. Moreover, Gulf oil producers are expected to spend nearly $15 billion on the expansion of their ports within the next five years.
The region is undergoing many projects designed to transform the Gulf into a global shipping hub for the international freight, trade and commerce.
Qatar is investing $7.1 billion in its new mega-port project, located close to the Messaeid Industrial Zone, which will be completed in 2016 and will have the capacity of six million TEU per year by 2028.
