Offshore WIND’s photo of the day: A turtle visiting DONG Energy’s Walney Offshore Wind Farm.
During a survey by CMACS, Bill Aspin took a photo of a leatherback turtle swimming near the Walney Offshore Wind Farm, located 14 km west of Walney Island off the coast of Cumbria, in the Irish Sea, England.
The offshore wind farm consists of 102 turbines supplied by Siemens Wind Power, each with a capacity of 3.6MW. The wind farm is located far from the coast, which results in relatively low visual impacts.
