MacArtney Norge AS has, through tender procedure, secured a contract for the supply of electro-optical cables for the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research’s (IMR) MUST system on the “G.O. Sars” research vessel.
The contract has a value of approximately 965,000 NOK (152,217 USD).
MUST (Multi-Usage System for Towed vehicle) is used for mapping and volume measurement of fish and zooplankton, and collecting information from a variety of sensors.
The multi-sensor system consists of a 5-channel synchronous sonar system, laser optical plankton measurer, video plankton measurement system, CTD probe, light meters, turbidity sensor, fluorescence sensor, compass and tilt and roll sensors.
Telemetry communication has been installed between the vehicle and the control unit on the boat where the transmission takes place via single-mode optical fibre.
The cable will also transfer supply voltage to the vehicle, as well act as tow cable.
