The construction of an Indonesian-built dredging vessel, worth approx. $21.9 million, is nearing its completion, and will be finished within the next month.

The 90-meter dredger, which is being built for the Dutch-based company Damen Group at PT Logindo Samudramakmur, is the first ship of its kind made outside Europe and is scheduled for completion in October, according to the Jakarta Globe.

The announcement came from Eddy K. Logam, President Director of Logindo, who is also chairing IPERINDO (the Indonesian Marine and Offshore Industry Association) , who said that this project “ is evidence that the Indonesian shipyard is not inferior to the developed countries. ”

Logindo, owner and operator of Steadfast Marine, a shipbuilder based in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, has the capacity to make up to 15 ships a year.
