Dredging that has been taking place in Cork Harbor on all main shipping channels since 9th September will be completed by the end of today, according to a spokesman from the port.

The dredging program has led to some bad odors, particularly in the city center area. This is an unavoidable side effect of the dredging process which removes sediment and natural decomposition from the sea bed.

According to the Port of Cork, dredging is necessary to maintain the depth of the harbor and must be carried out every three years.
