Northern Offshore’s drillship Energy Searcher, under contract in Nigeria, resumed normal operations on September 23, following repairs to the control hoses to the unit’s blowout preventer.

Earlier this month the drillship experienced technical problems with the control hoses to the unit’s blowout preventer. New hoses have now been installed, and the BOP is fully function tested.

The repairs were completed earlier than previously anticipated and the Energy Searcher is continuing its operations for CAMAC Energy on the Oyo Field offshore Nigeria.

The Energy Searcher is a conventionally moored drillship, able to operate in water depths of up to 2,500 ft. It is equipped with an 18-3/4 inch x 10,000-psi BOP stack, a Maritime Hydraulics DDM top-drive and an eight-point chain mooring system. It has a deck load capacity of 9,000 tons and is able to accommodate 110 people.
