Anholt offshore wind farm electricity production has been halted yesterday morning due to a grid connection problem.
According to the transmission system operator Energinet.dk the 400MW wind farm has been offline since 8:35 yesterday because of an unknown fault in its export connection.
After a night of trying to pinpoint the error, Energinet.dk decided to hire a helicopter to fly over the cable route. They believe it is more likely the problem occurred on the onshore part of the connection where the cable is buried in the ground.
The wind farm, located between Djursland and Anholt island, is connected to the land with a 25-kilometer AC submarine cable, jetted approximately 1 meter into the seabed, making a landfall north of Grenaa. The onshore connection consists of a 56-kilometer high-voltage land cable transmitting the power from Grenaa to Trige north of Aarhus.
Under the term of the agreement with the grid operator, Dong Energy said the owners will be fully compensated for any loss to production.
