The new next generation support vessel of Danish support vessel operator World Marine Offshore was christened World Bora by Mrs Vanessa Bauch at the naming ceremony today at the port of Esbjerg.
The vessel was built at Fjellstrand, a Norwegian shipbuilding yard outside Bergen. The innovative and advanced vessel has a length of 30 m, 13 m in the beam a cruising speed of 22 knots. The vessel is approved By Danish Maritime Authorities and DNVGL as a Passenger vessel for 24 technicians and has accommodation facilities for 5 crew members, so the vessel can remain at sea for several weeks.
The generous deck space made possible by the hull’s ample load capacity ensures that the vessels can load up to 20 tons as well as serving the industry during installation and repair periods, when larger equipment is needed. Four engine installations powering two controllable pitch propellers ensure redundancy and flexibility to the operation. The vessel will be equipped with ballasting systems to shift between rough weather SWATH mode and light weight transit mode. This, in combination with an integrated stabilizing foil, ensures a robust hull with low maintenance costs. The vessel can work in upto 3 m Hs Waves, which will increase accessibility to the Offshore Turbines. The sister vessel will be delivered on the 20th October from the yard and are still uncommitted but a contract are expected to be in place in the next weeks.
World Bora will commence a long term contract with Siemens for crew and cargo transfers at various offshore windfarms in Germany.
